The whole team at MX Display is buzzing after discovering that we are in the running for another prestigious industry award. We have been named as a finalist in the ‘wide and super-wide’ format category in this year’s Print, Design & Marketing Awards – a notable award nomination.
We scooped the award nomination for our work on the new visitors’ centre at Triumph. Based at the brand’s headquarters and UK manufacturing facilities in Hinckley, Leicestershire, the centre is free to visit and showcases an exclusive collection of never-before-seen exhibits centred around the design, engineering, and manufacture of Triumph’s most iconic models.
It features the world’s rarest collection of Triumphs, including the iconic TR6, ridden by Steve McQueen in The Great Escape. There are eight themed areas showcasing the British marque through its 115-year history and today, plus the Triumph 1902 Café, named after the year the first Triumph motorcycle was produced.
This huge, high-profile project required us to work closely with designers from Studio MB and build experts from Realm Projects to deliver this incredibly impressive space. The complex project required a wide range of printed substrates and bespoke materials.
It included routered clear acrylic, direct printing to specialist silver wallpaper, white ink to aluminum sheets, cad-cut vinyl graphics, print direct to backlit opal acrylic, optically clear window films, our one-piece wallpaper solution called One Wall, tensioned fabric and bespoke brushed steel lettering.
We will find out if we’ve been successful in the awards at a lunchtime reception aboard The Silver Sturgeon, a 21st Century yacht that has been converted into a hospitality venue, on the River Thames. Lunch will be provided by Jamie Oliver’s Fabulous Feasts, an event catering business set up by the TV chef.
David Lister, our Sales Director, said: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted as a finalist in there prestigious awards, which recognise the very best in the design and print industry and we’re looking forward to the event to see if we’ve won.”
“It’s been a good year for awards so far, having already scooped a couple of Lux Awards and a UK Enterprise Award, and we’re hoping to add a Print, Design & Marketing Award to our trophy cabinet. We’re really looking forward to cruising the Thames on the 21st, mixing with our friends and colleagues across the industry and, hopefully, celebrating another win. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.”
