Working alongside Lincolnshire based United Agency, we produced a full suite of wayfinding signage for Lincoln UTC. The stunning combination of high-gloss black acrylic and matt black vinyl really bring these graphics to life. It is important that the ‘critical information’ found in wayfinding is communicated quickly in a clear and consistent manner, so background clutter and lengthy copy should always be avoided. This creative technique adds texture and detail without drawing attention away from the wayfinding information.
We created a cut path for the matt black vinyl, carefully ‘knocking-out’ the white text areas. This ensured that when the matt white text was added later, it didn’t leave a nasty crease over the matt black vinyl beneath. The edges of the acrylic panels were flame polished to maintain a glossy finish, as were other signage formats in the suite.
