There are many things to consider when it comes to creating a stunning space that really reflects your brand. Whether you’re looking to give your office a facelift or create an enticing customer showroom, retail space or exhibition stand, it pays to not only think big, but to look beyond the obvious as well. Our custom floor graphics are a great solution to make you stand out from the crowd. Over recent years custom printed floor graphics have continued to increase in popularity. They are an excellent way of creating a custom space which blends with the rest of your environment to deliver brand synergy.
There are literally hundreds of flooring products on the market, so we’ve selected the best solutions that deliver the broadest set of properties. We stock short term floor graphics, permanent, indoor, outdoor, several different levels of slip rating and some that are more environmentally friendly. Our full range of different custom floor graphics can be found here on our Floor Graphics Page. If you’re unsure of which product you need, then we can advise based on some simple questions that are outlined below.
The first thing to decide is what kind of floor graphic you need. Once you’ve found the perfect product we can give you a quote and plan how it will be designed and fitted. There are five questions to consider to help you decide which product you need.
Some custom floor graphics are only required for a weekend event, so we have particular products that leave little or no residue when removed. These types of floor graphics will have a special adhesive that have enough ‘stick’ for a temporary event. Other products last longer and some are even designed to be permanent such as G-Floor (aka Bild) and PrismaFloor Tough.
This is really important and is connected to the next question of ‘What surface will it be applied to?‘ Outdoor graphics are generally designed for tarmac, paving slabs or concrete. Outdoor custom floor graphics are often applied to uneven surfaces and will need to withstand all sorts of weather conditions. Especially in the UK! In this circumstance we’d recommend outdoor floor products such as PrismaFloor Street or Asphalt Walk.
We’ve covered the outdoor surfaces, but indoor flooring surfaces can be very different. We stock products that are great for carpeted floors because they won’t damage the pile underneath like PrismaFloor Plus. We also stock floor vinyl that is great for marble floors, or laminated floors. Or perhaps you’ll need a product that can work or a wide variety of surfaces and we stock those too.
Many companies are embracing the shift towards sustainable choices that protect the planet and reduce waste. We stock PrismaFloor Eco which is PVC-free and contains no harmful chemicals. We also stock PrismaFloor Foil and Alumigraphics Grip that are metal based solutions with exceptional conformable qualities and can be easily recycled.
It is a legal requirement that custom floor graphics have a minimum Slip Rating of R9. The maximum Slip Rating is R13. This requirement is designed to avoid slip hazards and introduce a level of grip that is not available for regular wall vinyl products. All our products except for PrismaFloor Carpet (which does not require a slip rating) are rating from R9 and upwards. It is recommended that ramps have a higher R Rating.
In a study conducted by Sign Research Foundation, researchers found that floor graphics can increase brand awareness by up to 64%. According to a study by 3M, 96% of respondents said that floor graphics were more eye-catching than other types of advertising. In a study conducted by the Department of Psychology at the University of California, researchers found that people are more likely to pay attention to floor graphics than other types of advertising, such as posters or banners. A study by the University of San Diego found that floor graphics can increase sales by up to 20% in retail stores. According to a study by Nielsen, 72% of shoppers said that they noticed floor graphics, and 80% said that they found them helpful in making purchasing decisions. In a survey conducted by the Outdoor Advertising Association of America, 82% of respondents said that they have entered a store or business because of an outdoor sign or graphic, including floor graphics.
We offer a full fitting service using our own professional installation team. They are qualified, accredited and will prepare RAMS documents ahead of the install date. Our specialist custom flooring graphics can be tricky to install, sometimes requiring heating equipment, specialist adhesives or hot/cold welding. If you’re looking for a flooring product you can install yourself, we’d recommend PrismaFloor Easy, PrismaFloor Foil or Alumigraphics Grip. These can be installed by hand and the only equipment you’ll need is a small rubber roller.
If you’re designing and supplying your own custom floor graphics artwork then there are a few thing to consider. Our experienced studio team have been designing and artworking floor graphics for many years and would like to share the following useful tips:
In most circumstances the nearest anyone will look at your floor graphics is from standing height. Whilst we usually recommend a minimum of 300dpi for all our printed graphics, floor graphics are more forgiving because they’re viewed from further away, so a lower resolution quality won’t be as noticeable.
Floor graphics will be be under your feet. That means muddy boots and dirty floors. We like to avoid pale colours because they look tired much quicker than bright or dark colours.
We can cut your custom floor graphics to any shape you like. Arrows, footprints, circles, lines, letters, literally anything. However the shape will determine how well it will last and stick to the surface. We like to avoid pointed shapes because they ‘lift’ more easily and could create a trip hazard. So we recommend rounding any corners with a small radius of around 10mm. If you require a very intricte floor graphic, then we’d suggest PrismaFloor Clear. With this product you can cover a larger surface and print a very detailed design and see the floor behind it.
NB: For artworkers setting up a custom shaped cutter. Please create a stroke to show us where the cutter is needed. This should be a spot colour called CutContour and please set it to overprint.
