STUDIES HAVE ALREADY CONFIRMED THE IMPORTANCE OF WELL-DESIGNED CLASSROOMS AND THE POSITIVE IMPACT THIS HAS ON PUPIL PERFORMANCE.

A briefing paper published by Kirkland Rowell Surveys conducted 420,000 parental surveys by schools across the country.  The study revealed the top five areas of importance for parents that relate to their child’s school. Amongst these, the happiness of children is of high importance to parents, above their academic grades.

The announcements from the Budget 2017 have allocated £216 million to “help rebuild and refurbish existing schools”. Without getting political (we like to keep it simple) we know this money can be used effectively to create better learning environments. Ones that engage, excite and motivate school leaders, teachers, students and the community.

Transforming your school space doesn’t have to be as daunting as it sounds. You probably already have a strategic improvement plan in place, use this as your starting point. Steer away from thinking your brand should only be used on printed materials and uniforms. Have a more creative approach to make your budget work harder. Consider all the key factors, from interior branding to effective way finding.

RECEPTION AREAS

Did you know that the reception area is considered as your shop front? The first thing that parents and visitors see when they enter your school, first impressions are lasting. An entrance that is warm, bright and welcoming will make visitors feel at ease and allow them to trust you. Make it organised, highlight the school ethos and display artwork from the creativity of your students. G-Floor is the perfect product in these high traffic areas, with the ability to print your school logo or a heart-warming message for visitors. Digitally printed wallpaper and acrylic art are great ways to display work and highlight student of the month or the teaching faculty.

SIGNAGE AND WAYFINDING

Creating a clear movement pattern inside and outside the building is equally important as interior graphics. Using effective wayfinding and signage to highlight key entrances will effectively guide visitors and students in the right direction. Sticking to brand colours will also create a stronger link when connecting through corridors, classrooms and dining areas can make a significant difference.
