We all know customers enter a showroom because they want to experience the products in person, which in turn will impact their buying decision. Therefore, here we outline some great tips and highly important factors for making your showroom work for you and your customers. At the end of the day, a compelling showroom needs to impress your customers and keep them coming back for more!

TIP 1: CREATE FOCAL POINTS

The key to this is utilising the space you have. Large showrooms would benefit from different departments, categorising products and highlighting the top selling products or the newest to the market. Be careful, categorising by type rather than brand will allow customers to successfully compare, making the buying process better. For smaller showrooms, create one focal point, extensive research into your market will allow you to select the best product to highlight. Be sure to clearly outline benefits and USP’s of each product. Finally, if your product allows, make it as interactive as possible.

TIP 2: USE YOUR WINDOWS AS A SNEAK PEAK FOR PASSER-BY’S

Windows are the eyes for your showroom. Use specific colours that tie in with your brand to draw attention. Display products in the window if they allow you to, or have an engaging, eye-catching message that entices people to come in and look around. Using window graphics is a prominent way of doing just this. More so, communicating the company and showroom image on the window will allow customers to interact positively with what’s inside. Remember not to cram too much in, keeping it clean and simple will avoid confusion, your brand is special. Clarity and space are key.

TIP 3: FILL YOUR SHOWROOM WITH KNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF

Your staff need to know the ins and outs of each product to give your customers the best journey. Setting up areas with information for both staff and customers to access easily. This can include prices, delivery details and most important availability of products. By theory, you should already know how your customers shop and buy, using this information is vital. Staff need to know whether to provide lots of sales advice or allow customers to browse and ask questions. Workshops and training are a great way to get staff ready and motivated to provide the most efficient customer journey.

TIP 4: KEEP IT CLEAN AND UNCLUTTERED

Utilise the walls, add signs and wayfinding to improve the way customers move around the showroom. Using the walls to display key information about the products with printed graphic boards will leave more space for walking and interaction. Wayfinding is great to let customers know what’s round a corner, or where to find information kiosks. Big showrooms would benefit from cosy seating areas for informal chats, introduce tea and coffee to allow customers to feel comfortable during the buying period. Space is good, but keep the space tidy and avoid cluttering with unnecessary stands or tables that play no significance.

TIP 5: GIVE YOUR CUSTOMERS A REASON TO STOP BY

Lastly, and most importantly, creating a compelling interactive showroom is all well and good, but if customers are not walking through those doors then something is wrong. Give them a reason to come in, make it fun and appealing. Offer certain discounts on different days, hold workshops or arrange for special guests to make appearances throughout the day. No matter what you do, make it relevant, give your customers value and make them feel important by giving incentives.

In addition to this, your customers will not only remember your brand but more importantly, you won’t be able to keep them away!
